Clear policy helps educators, students, and families make consistent decisions about privacy, academic integrity, accessibility, disclosure, and approved tools instead of improvising in every situation.
The foundation
An effective AI policy states its purpose and principles, identifies who and what it covers, explains approved and prohibited uses, and names who makes decisions when a new situation arises. It should be understandable enough to guide daily choices.
Policy needs review as tools and local requirements change. It works best when paired with examples, professional learning, and a process for reporting problems or requesting an exception.
